About Skills to Resist Radicalisation
What skills are we trying to teach?
During November 2025, the Government launched a review of the national curriculum and said, “For the first time, primary-aged children will gain vital skills such as how to spot fake news and identify misinformation and disinformation, helping them develop the critical thinking needed to challenge what they see and protect them from online harms.”
It is these critical thinking and media literacy skills that sit at the heart of “Skills to Resist Radicalisation”. Ariel Trust is currently conducting a review of StRR in light of the national curriculum review, and we are currently seeking to work with schools that would like to play an active part in the testing and development of new resources. If you would like to take part in this process, please contact admin@arieltrust.com.
How do we teach media literacy skills?
The existing StRR resources contain a film in which a boy is radicalised by a football coach. This film is currently being updated based on the experience of pupils and teachers from Rock Ferry Primary School, but it is worth having a look at this clip from the existing film.
Although this film will be updated, it gives a feel for the kind of resource that will be provided to schools as part of this project. Alongside the film, there will be a series of activities that ask pupils to think critically about the content that is shared by the characters in the film.

Do you want to be part of the development of updated resources?
In order to support the new objectives, set out in the government’s curriculum review, Ariel Trust is seeking to work with partner schools that want to test and develop new resources for use in primary schools. If you would like free access to the existing resources and are willing to play a creative role in updating these, then please contact admin@arieltrust.com.
