We recently completed our third trial of our new Key Stage 1 programme, ‘Telling Tales or Asking For Help?’
We have been working in St Vincent De Paul Primary School, with an amazing Year 2 Class, and we have been blown away by the progress of the children. As our Key Stage One Programme is still a work in progress, in its trial stages, we are learning with each trial and developing new ideas!
The children have shown a huge development in vocabulary and maturity since starting the programme; they can tell the difference between telling tales and asking for help, and their method of asking for help has improved considerably, using our 'asking for help' steps.
One child in particular refused to join in for the majority of the activities in our sessions. However, by the time we had our last session, she got up and role played an amazing example of asking for help - not only had she been successfully taking in the information we were providing, despite not joining in with activities, but had grown in confidence so much in the 6 weeks that she volunteered to get up and show her work to the class.
We are delighted with this progress, and we can't wait to continue developing this new resource to roll out to more schools in the Autumn!
